Judgment Day

I'm rather amazed I managed to finish this at all. I've been somewhat obsessed with enjoying a British murder mystery called Midsomer Murders. Despite the idyllic English village setting, the place is crawling with murderous psychopaths and far too many skeletons in the closets. I kind of love it. I think that is what I'll spend my break from the blog doing. No, not murdering people. Writing a murder mystery. Of course, knowing me, it will turn into something silly, most likely involving zombies. Oh well.

So, this is it then. This is the end of this (rather long) arc. But don't worry my loves, this is really very far from the end. We certainly haven't seen the last of Charlotte Foxtrot.

A simple Truth

Second to last part of this arc! Wow, I never thought I'd have enough brain power to keep it going this long. I guess there is hope for me yet! This story will be wrapped up nicely in time for that spookiest of months, dread October. I dare say all the shenanigans the month of October usually brings will keep our intrepid monster hunters busy, so I'm letting them have the month off. No doubt they will have some interesting stories for us when they return.

Oh, did you guys think I'd forgotten about Amanda and Max? Well, I did. So here's what they were doing while François was conjuring.

Calling the Baron

I'm not entirely sure, but I think this story arc may almost be over. I really didn't intend it to be this long, but I hope it hasn't been a tedious read. I love these characters, I love writing them and I try my best to make them as readable and enjoyable as possible.

And as for François, Kemp almost got it right. He is a bokor, a sort of voodoo sorcerer. He is able to call on the spirits and, in the case of his beloved Margeurite, create zombies. But I'm not saying anymore, because there is a whole lot more to him than that.

Anyway, I think next week may be the final part of this arc. For now, have a little more of François' hoodoo.

Enter the Spirits

Well, finally. It has started, the showdown. I was still at somewhat of a loss as to how to handle the witch, so I figured I'd let François have some fun in the meantime. It has become a sort of rule with me; when in doubt, François.

Did I ever tell you guys what he is, exactly? See if you can figure it out.

In which no newts are mentioned

Um, rushed post is rushed. I spent so much time researching witchcraft and tryin to figure out a way to kill a witch that I acutally forgot to write a story for today. So I cobbled something together as a sort of segway into the fight.

So, enjoy Charlotte's witch killing mania and the obligatory Python reference.

Nothing As It Seems

This whole story arc is going on a little longer that I planned. It seems that I can't stop myself writing about François. I'm not sure how much farther it will go on, but I promise it will end and then maybe François will leave me alone for a while. Oh, the things we do for our creations.

Anyway, the next installment, and finally! The terror is revealed!

Something Wicked This Way Comes

Forgive me, dear internet, for having yet another cliffhanger. I had to finish the post rather quickly this afternoon because I heard that my brother was coming into town and, I'm sorry, but family trumps all. I promise next week you'll find out what it is that the goblins are so afraid of. Until then, have a little bit of François being weird, as he is wont to be.

Naturally

Yeah, another cliffhanger.

I can't resist them. But isn't it better this way? Now there is something exciting to look forward to next week. Until then, try and guess what is in the bust and who Charlotte would be calling so late. I'll give you a cookie if you're close!

Looking back on that evening, Amanda couldn’t fathom how they’d all expected to be able to simply shut the mysterious lady back in her crate with the promise of Max that her remains would never be disturbed.

Late Night Rummage

Right, now were are back to the main story. I'm not letting François get in the way anymore, and he might be sulking because of it. But don't mind him, the plot, as they say, thickens!

What has the goblins so worked up? Read on!

Charlotte stifled a yawn. Securing the restless goblins hadn’t been easy; until she received her orders as to how to dispose of them, she had to keep them from escaping the netting. It had been years since she attempted a restraining sigil so large and complex, but she finally had them fettered and quiet in an unused storage shed.

Chagrin d'amour Douce

Or, "François steals the spotlight. Again."

What can I say? François is very needy, apparently, and he thinks I haven't been paying enough attention to him. Give him an inch and he thinks he's a ruler.

Gee whiz... and here I was thinking that just because I'm the author that I was in control. I've got to stop letting my characters walk all over me. Oh well, have a look at François' thoughts on the goblin behind the cut. More gobliny goodness next week!

Vindicated

Ok, folks, back to our regularly scheduled frivolity. We rejoin Amanda as she tries to figure out what to do with her diminutive new friend.

Will Charlotte let her keep him? Is their stay at the dig site over? Does Dr. Fischer have a use besides (imaginary) eye candy? Read on to find out!

(Also, Blogger seems to hate me again, so if things look screwy, blame Blogger.)

How was she going to explain this to Charlotte?

Cold, calculating Charlotte. She wouldn’t understand feeling sympathy for a poor, pathetic little goblin. She wouldn’t look into those limpid eyes and melt; she’d probably shoot the thing where it stood.

A Repose from Goblins

Sorry, folks, but I am derailing the story for this week. I've been trying to get my characters to cooperate with me, but sometimes they just go off and don't leave a note for me. So, while I hunt them down and get another installment of their goblin problem out of them, I'd like to share a little taste of what François used to do for fun before Charlotte found him.

It's also a bit of a jab at Bigfoot researchers. I mean, come on guys, really? You take this stuff way too seriously. Give it a rest, before something terrible happens to you.

“Damnit, Bob, watch where you’re pointing that thing.”

“Sorry Cliff.”

Cliff and Bob Ferrier were the up and coming new stars in the world of Bigfoot hunting. To date, they had captured well over one hundred pieces of evidence in the search for the elusive beast, ranging from blurry videos and shaky heat signatures to odd sounds caught on static filled tapes. They admitted freely that it wasn’t the best, but people seemed to love their down home charm and full heartedly bought into their wildly woven stories and hyped up evidence.

Toes in the Street

Short post is short, and also early. There are chicken and dumplings waiting for me at my mom's and nothing is keeping me from them.

Also, how'd you guys like my creature reveal? Haha, who was expecting something terrible and monstrous? Nope, sorry. You get goblins!

Amanda wasn’t sure what she should do.

There had been reported cases of unbound goblins and similar creatures roaming in packs and causing vandalism and injury. She’d even seen footage of what one lone goblin can do. They were vicious creatures when they remained unbound and unemployed.

Green Eyed Beast

This post is a bit longer than usual. I didn't want to push the creature reveal back another week but, thanks to Miss Lucy, there was a new character to introduce. So I just smooshed it all together. Yay!

So, the monster of Atlantis. Bet you didn't see this coming. And if you did... stop reading my mind!

For the first time in his long life, François felt a pang of jealousy.

Phantasmagoria

I've been putting a lot of research into this, probably more than I should. I tend to do that; I come up with elaborate details and then have to end up cutting them for the sake of clarity. So, you can thank me for not overwhelming you with all the stuff about Atlantis from Plato's works or all the historical jargon I could throw around. You're welcome.

“So, these people think they’ve found Atlantis?” Amanda asked over the roar of the truck’s engine.

“They think that, yes. There are a few similarities, but all evidence would suggest that this is just another Bronze Age city.” Charlotte kept her eyes on the road ahead, her voice was flat.

Pecksniffian

Hey guys, let me tell you, I'm seriously considering dropping all pretenses of a plot or story line and just writing little snippets about François. I adore this guy; you have no idea how much fun I have thinking up his dialogue and his mannerisms.

Of course, I won't do that, because I hope you all want to know what's going on at that dig site and I'd be an awful cad if I just dropped out right in the middle of a story. So, here we have them safely on dry land again and on their way to Atlantis (maybe).

François couldn’t have been less inconspicuous if he had tried.

Goody Two Shoes

Oh, hey. It's Tuesday. Let me tell you, internet, this three day weekend has really thrown me off. That being said, I want every weekend to be a three day weekend. Especially when I can be as lazy as I was this time around.

But I was not completely idle. I have plans, you see. I'm planning what battle Charlotte and the gang are going to fight. They might be in over their heads.

Part Three:

The spirits were crying.

Riders on the Storm

Quick post tonight. There is a storm raging outside my window. And perhaps, just perhaps, there may be a storm on the horizon for our intrepid trio.

“Haven’t you ever wondered why cities were abandoned?”

Welcome Back

I must thank Miss Lucy for giving me the idea for this. I had so been wanting to brings these guys back, but wasn't quite sure where to begin. But, thanks to an innocent little email conversation, I had the starting point. Isn't it funny, the things that can inspire us. Domo, Miss Lucy!

An Expected Trip

“So, whose body are you trying to move?”
